The John Q. Declaration: Our Principles for Free Speech and Digital Culture

Real commentary. Real art. Real free speech — without corporate filters or algorithmic censorship.

This site exists to protect and amplify free expression — ideas, information, art, and political commentary without censorship.

John Q. Public is all of us.

John Q. Media exists because ordinary people are being silenced, throttled, and ignored.

“John Q. Public” is the stand-in name for the everyday person — the common man or woman on the street. On this site, John Q. Public is anyone whose voice has been buried by algorithms, policies, or fear.

First Amendment to the United States Constitution
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects citizens from government censorship — but private companies are not bound by the First Amendment, and today they shape nearly all digital speech. That means if we want our voices heard, we must act on our own, build our own platforms, and refuse to be silenced.

Political action through independent media is no longer optional — it’s necessary. Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, originally meant to protect open dialogue online, has been twisted into a shield for censorship. Big platforms now suppress dissenting voices under vague “community guidelines,” while controlling what millions of people can see, share, or even question. John Q. Media exists because too many voices have been buried, throttled, or erased. When social media decides what’s allowed to be heard, truth gets lost — and the public pays the price.

Cultural engineering, cancel culture, and coordinated narrative control are dividing the country and silencing everyday Americans. Ideological pressure and digital bullying punish anyone who steps outside the approved script. Meanwhile, lawfare has become a favored weapon of activists and entrenched interests to intimidate, punish, or bankrupt those who refuse to fall in line.

We are facing a nationwide censorship crisis — not from government alone, but from powerful private platforms that are not bound by the First Amendment. The only way to break the spiral of silence is to build our own spaces, speak boldly, and stand together with one clear, unapologetic voice.spiral of silence.
